Enpure's Malcolm Wilkinson will join other Wessex WAter Fundraisers to see firsthand the difference their fundraising has made when they visit WaterAid projects in Mali as part of the company's Wessex for WestAfrica initiative.
With a population of 12.4 million, Mali in West Africa is one of the poorest countries in the world. Around 40% of people do not have access to safe water and 55% still do not have access to proper sanitation. WaterAid has been working in the country since 2000 to assist with its vast water and sanitation needs.
Malcolm will set off on Saturday 15th May on a 6 day trip to see firsthand how the money the company has raised has helped WaterAid provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene education to some of the poorest communities in Mali. He will be accompanied by Wessex Water staff and other companies who also support the Wessex4West Africa scheme.
The Wessex4West Africa fundraising project aims to engage staff from a wide group of companies, as well as from Wessex Water, in the work WaterAid undertakes helping people living in poverty and without access to clean water and safe sanitation. Enpure are continuing to support this initiative and this year have sponsored SHEQ Administrator Rebecca Prince to get involved in the project.
