Enpure cuts its carbon footprint and wins an award.
Birmingham engineering company Enpure Ltd has been recognised as a regional champion at cutting its carbon footprint by Business in the Community and Prince Charles’ May Day Network.
In the awards ceremony on the 1st May Enpure scooped the award for Excellence in Cutting CO2 in recognition of the work done over the course of 2008 to reduce the carbon footprint of the company.
To qualify for the award Enpure benchmarked the energy use at their headquarters in Quinton and then set about implementing energy saving measures throughout the year. Half-hourly monitoring of electricity use showed where and when the best savings could be made and work practices were duly altered. In addition to this a sustainable transport policy set about reducing the emissions of the company car fleet, and replacing travel to remote sites with teleconferencing and web conferencing.
Oliver Holmes, Enpure’s environment officer, said “We’re thrilled to be recognised for the work we’ve done over the past year to reduce our environmental impact. We take our corporate social and environmental responsibility very seriously and an award such as this justifies our endeavours.”
