The Sevar belt dryer is a direct or indirect fired, double pass belt dryer. Hot gas recirculation or single pass configurations can be incorporated to suit the application. Its mechanical and electrical simplicity makes for high reliability and ease of operation, with no need for complex backmixing systems. Typically, a suitable operator is a good all-round fitter with M&E experience, equivalent to NVQ level 3.
Low temperatures (130 – 1400C) and long dwell times (50-70 mins) produce consistent granule temperatures, minimizing hot spots. Consistent temperatures and retention times ensure pathogen kill to UEPA and European guidelines of Class A and enhanced quality respectively.
Due to low dust low temperature drying, Sevar have addressed the safety concerns usually raised with this technology. This system handles the product gently thereby keeping dust to a minimum and if you combine this with the low belt speed, mechanical friction and heat potential has been reduced considerably. Added to this is the fact that safety in the dryer does not rely on an oxygen deficient drying atmosphere. With St 1 classification, the product is graded as having ‘low explosion severity potential
In March 2008 Enpure won the contract to provide sludge Belt dryers and ancillary handling plant for Dubai’s new large sewage treatment works at Jebel Ali worth £7m.
