Solid Waste
Capacity 150,000 tons/year municipal solid waste, 65,000 tons/year fed into BTA® hydromechanical pre-treatment
Start up: 2000 first start-up, 2002 start-up after refurbishment by BTA/Biotec.
Original plant design included mechanical pretreatment with drum sieve (>80mm first line, >100mm second line); wet-mechanical pre-treatment consisting of mixer, cutter and screen, anaeorbic wet digestion and fluidised bed incineration of PDF and digestate.
BTA retrofitted the wet pre-treatment system to the Verona plant in 2002, to remedy operational problems with the organics separation and treatment system on the plant.
