The £18 million Sludge Treatment Centre, located on the docks at Millbrook, Southampton, was an integral part of Southern Water’s Sludge Strategy and was designed to treat sludges from the Southampton area and other remote sites.

In response to the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive for non-disposal of sludge at sea, the compact, integrated plant has made use of Southern Water’s existing assets as well as new structures.
