The scheme included:-
• Raw water feed pipework diversions
• Aeration plant with chlorine dosing
• Flocculation
• Rapid gravity filtration plant (to be located in the Old Pumping Station Building)
• Chlorine contact and backwash tanks
• Chlorination plant
• Refurbishment of the existing sludge plant
At Borough Green the GAC filter plant was removed and raw water is now transferred directly to Trosley WTW for treatment.
These works encompassed:-
• New borehole pump
• Rehabilitation of borehole head works (civil, mechanical and electrical)
• Demolition of the existing meter/control room (to be replaced by a GRP kiosk)
• Dismantling and removal of the chlorination building and GAC filter units
Conclusion
The plant was built to meet South East Water’s treated water quality targets and was available for service by 18th December 2009 some 10 months from contract award.
