Ultrafiltration membrane project undertaken by Morrison Enpure joint venture. It comprises a new 20.4 ML/D water treatment works to treat water abstracted from Loch Glass to replace the existing Assynt Works. The plant process was designed by Enpure and incorporates sub contract membrane technology provided by Norit.
This project was for the design and construction of a completely new treatment works on the existing site, whilst the existing works continued to produce potable water. After commissioning of the new Works it was bought into full production and after a suitable period of performance testing to ensure it met the contract specification, the old Works was decommissioned.
The plant is an ultrafiltration membrane plant with associated ancillaries and is sized for a design flow ranging between 8 MLD and 20.4 MLD, with the plant being able to maintain 24.6 MLD for short periods. The feed flow is normally gravity with booster pumps aiding at the higher flow range.
The upgrading of the works is intended to meet revised consents agreed between Scottish WAter and SEPA
